AIM Viruses Spreading ;)
Viruses are easily spread through instant messaging software such as AOL Instant Messenger, Yahoo! IM, MSN etc. The problem is when you are send a link to click on. Once you click on the link you are sent to a web site that is programmed to infect your messaging program. Once you are infected your entire buddy list gets a message telling them to check out the web site also. This chain letter like virus keeps infecting computers like a domino effect.
How to protect yourself:
- When someone instant messages you a link, ask them whether or not they are aware they actually sent you a link.
- Update the latest operating system patches from Microsoft/Apple/Linux whichever you are using.
- Update your virus definition files to the latest version daily.
